Unit 2: Materials

Stone - Brick - Concrete - Iron - Steel - Glass - Wood

These contruction materials are used in architecture and urban planning

Think about these questions...

        • What are their origins?
        • What are their properties?
        • What are their advantages and disadvantages?
        • What are they good for?

In this unit, we will be discussing these questions and others regarding materials. In order to understand better how materials work, it is fundamental to learn about their properties.

In this interactive materials lab, you will learn about loads , forces, and how they affect the different materials.

Play around in the lab, and refer back to it when you listen to and read about the different materials in the unit.

Copy the unknown vocabulary to the class glossary in Moodle.
